The Obama-Biden Plan to Cover Uninsured Americans: Obama and Biden will make available a new national health plan to all Americans, including the self-employed and small businesses, to buy affordable health coverage that is similar to the plan available to members of Congress. The Obama-Biden plan will have the following features:
1. Guaranteed eligibility. No American will be turned away from any insurance plan because of illness or pre-existing conditions.
2. Comprehensive benefits. The benefit package will be similar to that offered through Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), the plan members of Congress have. The plan will cover all essential medical services, including preventive, maternity and mental health care.
3. Affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles.
4. Subsidies. Individuals and families who do not qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP but still need financial assistance will receive an income-related federal subsidy to buy into the new public plan or purchase a private health care plan.
5. Simplified paperwork and reined in health costs.
6. Easy enrollment. The new public plan will be simple to enroll in and provide ready access to coverage.
7. Portability and choice. Participants in the new public plan and the National Health Insurance Exchange (see below) will be able to move from job to job without changing or jeopardizing their health care coverage.
8. Quality and efficiency. Participating insurance companies in the new public program will be required to report data to ensure that standards for quality, health information technology and administration are being met.

As a, senior citizen I wonder why since we paid for years for medicare, why do we still have to pay for medicaare like an insurance and still have another insurance policy. Havn,t we paid enough? Is it time for us to really get medical without paying and espically still have another insurance?
I AM A DIB/HIGH B/P I HAVE NO HEALTH INS.
We are paying into MCR benefits right now, why can’t that health benefit be active now instead of waiting until you are 65. Some people wind up having to fight for MCR benefits when they loose employment based health insurance due to a illness and continue to need treatment. It can be, for some, a battle to have MCR become active when they are under the age of 65.
We pay enough in taxes, we are taxed on our pay and then taxed on the items we buy.
We are expected to pay for some of these government jobs through taxes…my point is cut some of those from the payroll and use the funds to cover healthcare. Or…Cut the payroll, make the representatives live off the middle income amount of the public earners, let them see how it feels to live on such a real budget, no average american earns six figures to represent their community, drive public vehicles, have a gas card expense account, and can write off trips when a whole family had joined them.
Why should MCR coverages need to pay 20% after the fact of coverage being active? They should be covered in full!!!
Also, why are our soldiers having to pay for medical benefits? They serve our country and risk their lives but they have to pay for medical care?
This country should be for the people and about the people, take care of this because having worked in the medical field of insurance has made me very upset when people who obviously need insurance don’t get it and/or get accepted for MCD share of cost but they have a fee of 1800, 500, or 100 dollars a month to pay out due to income prior to coverage becoming active is outrageous. No one took into account the mark ups on gas, food and lack of employment that has been taking place. Some people had met the amount within the first week or third week and then it starts all over for them. This can really add up when they come through the ER.
Mark ups, that what the Hospitals do to account for patients that come in with no insurance. Their cost is not contracted so they get charge much more than the insurance companies……why?
If they have a standard heart surgery and that is say 20K but the difficult case is 30K, they come to a middle ground of 25K standard for this cost of procedure. They make the 5K extra per every middle line surgery and very few have the 30K surgery. Example 55K on 11 surgeries and perhaps one is complicated so minus 5K so they recooped 50K on those 11 surgeries. What is wrong with that?
They also need to include weightloss centers for the obesity rate in America and stop looking for surgeries that would help but look for Nutritionists/Dieticians that can help the children of tomorrow and the adults of today. It is a Disease that can be treated by learning better eating habits and exercise patterns, it should be covered.
i have health insurance now but cant afford it. self employed 1person cant get group ins. anthem bcbs.im 55 yrs. old.increase from 499.68 to 724.58.january 2009 rate.500% increase.thats monthly.ive had this plan for years never a jump like that in premium.im on three medications.bloodpr.)closterol)+diabetic 2 pills.to change to a cheaper policy i get less coverage and more out of pocket expence. some plans wont insure me -3 medicines im taking.do the math 6000-changing to 9000 a year plus co-payments and 500 dollar yearly maximum on medications.which i eat up in about 3 months.then it costs me I welcome any plan thats cheaper and has good coverage. by the way if i go into the hospital it cost me an additional 1500. medical ins. might put me out of buisness.

Medical care cannot become “free.” Someone always has to pay the bill. What we’re involved in is deciding how that money will be raised and at what level doctors, hospitals, drug companies and others in the health care industry will be paid for the products of their labor. If we pay them too little, people will chose to work elsewhere. Federal employee health benefit plans work well because their members have well paying steady jobs and the federal government, like most other employers heavily subsidizes the cost. The federal government could not afford to subsidize health insurance for all or most Americans without substantial tax increases. One way or another we will pay.
THIS COUNTRY SHOULD BE FOR HUMAN AND SAVE LIFE OF THEHUMAN .
